Need to know more about R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo? If all goes well, his life's story might be coming to a big screen near you soon.
The multi-talented star, who last month released his new album "Year of the Gentleman," says he's currently working on a film that is based on his life story that he would star in.
Comparing the project to Eminem's 2002 biopic "8 Mile," a hit film based inspired by the Detroit rapper's journey to the top of the hip hop game, Ne-Yo says that his flick is already in the works.
"We are putting together the (film) right now as we speak, as a matter of fact," the artist tells Rap-up.com. "The name of the movie is ‘Venice Beach' and basically it's going to be my ‘8 Mile,' loosely based on (my) life, but not really."
Ne-Yo was last seen on screen in 2007's "Stomp the Yard."
All of you hoping that Janet Jackson's recent illness had something to do with a pregnancy, keep hoping. Her brother Randy Jackson says his sister suffers from vertigo, according to an Internet report.
Randy tells MichaelJacksonInsider.com that his little sis was hospitalized this week due to vertigo, a disturbance of equilibrium that causes dizziness or the sensation of falling, according to the EUR.
"Janet is doing okay, she suffers from vertigo," Randy was quoted as saying.
I don't see anything on that website with comments from Randy. That aside, Janet's reps never did say what caused the 42-year-old singer to be hospitalized just hours before a show in Montreal, only that she "got suddenly ill" during her sound check. Afterward a release went out saying that Janet's next two shows were postponed and that her "Rock Witchu" tour would resume Saturday in Greensboro. The day before her Sept. 27 show in Detroit she also cancelled, citing "production constraints," according to a rep quoted in the Detroit News.
Is it vertigo or is Jermaine Dupri's longtime love carrying a Jernette or Jamaine? I asked her rep yesterday if Janet is pregnant and she replied, "Not that I'm aware of."
His latest album, "Tha Carter III," has only been out since May, but Lil Wayne is already recording its follow-up. According to his blog on ESPN.com, the rapper is in the studio working on "Tha Carter IV" as well as a new mixtape.
The latter, "Dedication 3," will fall under DJ Drama's "Gangsta Grillz" series and "you can expect [it] real soon," Wayne says.
In a nod to his well-recognized prolific output, Wayne says immediately after "Dedication 3" comes out, he'll re-release it "with 20 extra songs for free on my Web site."
"Tha Carter III" is far and away the best-selling album of 2008, having shifted 2.5 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Lil Wayne is also collaborating with T-Pain for a highly anticipated duet album, "T-Wayne," which is slated for 2009.
"We've got three or four songs we've finished," T-Pain tells Billboard. "They don't really have titles. We're just doing music and however it comes out, it comes out."
The singer says the tracks won't sound like his current Wayne-featuring single, "Can't Believe It," but will have the collective flair shown on tracks like "Got Money."
